Leadership & Pioneering Stream
Do you feel called to leadership or a call to pioneer something new for God? Do you have
visions, dreams and ideas, but don’t know what to do with them? This Stream is for you! !
In Chapter 2 of Joel, it says that we will have dreams and visions. The Leadership & Pioneering Stream will take you on the journey from having visions and dreams to allowing God to breathe His life and creativity into them.
Whether you have dreams, or you’ve given up on them, this could be the beginning of a HUGE adventure; a place where God’s plans and purposes, together with your ideas and passions, can fuse together for His glory!
So let Him prepare you, as you go to prepare the way for Him, through new initiatives, ministry plants, and ideas!

I’m all about creativity! While being at Pacific Reach, I’ve been given so many new opportunities in the sphere of media to learn and explore. For someone who considers themselves to be quite artsy, I love the freedom to create! God has challenged me to take ownership of this part of my identity recently, and I have been blown away by the way He has met me there. He has opened doors for me to be a part of weddings and celebrations, as well as some sweet community gatherings. Using different forms of media to share stories and capture moments is my absolute joy!
Jo Wills, 22, Canada
I joined the media department with Pacific Reach at the start of 2018. I had little to no experience with photography and videography, but slowly grew and had the support of the incredible leadership team at the base. I was encouraged to go on outreaches to document what our teams were doing, while also getting the opportunity to grow and create content for all the schools run at the base. After returning back to the USA, I’ve transitioned this into a small side-business. I film about 15 weddings a summer and have enjoyed this passion tremendously. Pacific Reach was a great starting point, and equipped me to go any direction with my skill set.

DBS has been a fulfilled prayer for me. When I was home, I asked the Lord to bring me deeper into his word, and He put that desire on my heart. I knew I would come back to staff, and I thought I would dive into it on my own. I found myself not having the right tools needed to effectively study God’s word. Once DBS became an option, I went for it wholeheartedly. I have been enjoying my time, going deeper than I imagined. God has shown me new things, removed false perspectives of his word and brought me into a deeper understanding of who he is. I have been challenged in many ways during this course, helping me find my place in God’s kingdom. I’ve been able to build a strong foundation with the Word of God. Over all, the Lord created a new heart within me that desires to love, praise, share joy, and bring others into the family of God. I love this school for all that is provided from strong friendships to heart moving moments in small groups and the teachings. My life will never be the same after this school!

“For the past two years God has called me to go deeper in the word and not just let it be a surface level experience with Him. However I didn’t really have the tools, knowledge or understanding for how to go about this. God spoke to me months before I knew I would be able to do the DBS, during lockdown, that those who get into the word would see the face of Jesus. I am realizing that as I get into the word for hours a day with really helpful teachings to go alongside the readings, that is exactly what is happening. I am gaining such a deeper understanding of who God is and who I am, in relation to Him. There have been weeks where doing the homework assignments just completely wrecked me by seeing the love of God and in the moments of reflecting how God has moved so radically in my life. Even when I wasn’t walking closely with Him, He has always been drawing me back into a close relationship with Him by His love and mercy and grace.”
Anika Hochstedler, 26, New York
“Before DBS the Bible was a bit overwhelming to me and I wasn’t sure if I was capable of receiving understanding for myself; especially when it comes to the hard questions or more complex passages. After DBS, that questioning was stripped away and my relationship with my Heavenly Father has gone deeper than ever before.
DBS taught me how to see the Father heart of God. I learned to see God’s justice, faithfulness, and consistency from Genesis to Revelation. My life and relationship with Jesus will never be the same. When I read God’s Word it speaks loudly to me in full color. I cannot get enough of my Father’s words!! DBS equipped me to search out the scriptures for myself and empower me to share what I’ve learned with those around me. DBS was the sweetest time of my entire life.”
Amy Hulehan, 26, USA
“I decided to do a DBS because I wanted to know as much about the Bible as I could. And yes, I learned a lot about the Bible, the historical background and so on. But my biggest gain from the DBS was to learn and see the Bible come alive and active in my own life. The Bible used to be a boring book to me, with a bunch of unrelatable stories and letters. During DBS I got to know how to apply God’s Word to my life and how to be discipled, transformed and guided by it. My life changed so much through that and is still changing. I believe that’s what the Bible is for, to lead us closer to God and to help us to become more like Him.”

Last year, I was part of the ALT course and throughout the year I have been continually reminded of the visual images of the course in the various scenarios of my life. Often in lectures I feel like I can only retain a portion of what the speaker has to say, but I felt in this course I was able to grab hold of so much. I am a very visual person and was very thankful to find a very visual outlet to learn more about leadership.
Aimee, 21, Wisconsin, USA
The ALT course challenged my perspective on leadership and really helped me to have a better understanding of how God wants me to lead others compared to how I naturally lead or had been modelled leadership by others. Each week the concepts discussed introduced a new angle to Christian leadership that I had really never heard before. I also loved the fellowship this course held by being able to meet weekly and reflect on what each of us was learning. I highly recommend that everyone takes this course!
Lauren, 24, USA
I decided to do ALT in order to grow in my leadership. I came out of the course understanding that influence begins with myself. If I want transformation I need a heart revelation of how Jesus led, how to apply it to myself, and how to impart it into others.
Ashley, 25, Washington, USA
The Applied leadership tract was a brilliant course for revealing ways in which my leadership was lacking but not only did it reveal that it also showed how to improve that. By the end of it I felt far more capable as a leader, of others but also of myself. I now feel more confident in my leadership and have a greater sense of knowing what the people I’m leading need.
